The AIR Program recognizes young music professionals and young visual artists who promise to be leaders of creative thinking and innovation, and who are outstanding masters of their craft. During the Next Weekend we announced our latest Artist in Residence: Master Soul Boy.
At the opening cocktail for the Next Weekend, The Air Committee had the great pleasure to not only surprise but introduce our guests to the next Bergos Next Generation Artist in Residence: Master Soul Boy. AIR supports and develops the next generation of musicians and visual artists. Bergos offers emerging artists in the field of contemporary musical and visual art a much-needed opportunity to showcase their work, cultivate their artistic voice, develop their vision.
Gareth Donkin aka: Soul Boy is a 21-year-old singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Leeds, GB. A Lover of classic soul melodies, old school percussion, and jazz infused with new symphonic stylism. He already has over 1 million streams on Spotify and with the support of Bergos Air our aim is to help Gareth grow his collection of fans worldwide and bring him to a new audience through various events, and initiatives.
Master Soul Boy produced for the Next Weekend two previously recorded songs in a video special which we streamed live with Gareth from his home in Leeds, UK. His special combination of mixing vintage and modern tracks was wonderful to here and his infectious enthusiasm and humour made this all the more special. This very talented young man is going places and we are delighted to help him on his musical journey. As he said that night, “Bergos Air has given me the freedom not only financially but also emotionally to explore new musical directions at a time when I was extremely under pressure and unsure of my musical future.”
