Indyana Schneider

A voice of crimson depth and character. A stage presence that captivates from the very first note. Australian mezzo-soprano Indyana Schneider stands for a new generation of classical artists — combining musical excellence with intellectual curiosity and emotional authenticity.

Praised as “outstanding” by The Guardian and celebrated by Opera Magazine for her richly coloured, characterful voice, Indyana is rapidly building an international reputation on both opera and concert stages.

A graduate of Magdalen College, Oxford University, and the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, she recently completed two seasons at the International Opera Studio of the Opernhaus Zürich. Her roles included Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Marchesa Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims, and the lead female role in the world premiere of Jonathan Dove’s In 80 Tagen um die Welt.

Beyond the opera stage, Indyana curates and performs themed Liederabende in Zurich and was commissioned by the Government of New South Wales to create an opera cabaret together with Rosalind Dobson — reflecting the breadth of her artistic vision and her commitment to meaningful storytelling through music.

At the heart of her artistic work lies a deep belief in the transformative power of emotional truth:

With this philosophy in mind, emotional honesty is at the heart of everything I do. I want to contribute meaningfully to that universal human need and conversation, creating performances and projects that help people feel, process, remember, heal, imagine, and play.
