Who is the next big artist? What’s next in the art world? Aurelia Rauch, Communications Director at Bergos and former Creative Director of New York Gallery Sperone Westwater gave a guided tour of selected galleries in Zurich in partnership with Zurich Art Weekend 2021.
The tour around Zurich’s art scene started with beautiful weather and bright sunshine. The starting point of the tour was the event location Metropole in the heart of the city. From here we took a nice walk to the first stop of the tour, the Kunsthaus Zurich, where Walter de Maria’s legendary work “The 2000 Sculpture” was waiting for us – the sheer size of the room and the sculpture was spectacular and a successful start of the tour. From here we continued to the emerging gallery of Fabian Lang, where works by the up-and-coming artist Kilian Rüthemann were waiting for us. The diversity of the works and their nature were particularly interesting.
Next on our agenda was a visit of the famous art gallery Hauser und Wirth. Themed “Arp: Art is a Fruit”, the gallery showed works by Hans Arp, one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. At the gallery, we were able to learn more about the artist’s paintings and sculptures at first hand. Matching the sculptures, we went to the garden of the Hotel Baur au Lac where the famous eye sculptures of the artist Louise Bourgeoise were exhibited. The final destination of our tour was the gallery Livie Fine Art. Here we could not only take a look at the works of the artist Olaf Metzel but also at the artist himself, who was currently in the gallery.
